1. Information We Collect

• Account information (username, email, full name)
• Companion information (name, species, breed, age, weight, health records)
• Health data (symptoms, conditions, treatments, veterinary visits)
• Photos and documents you upload for companion health records
• Usage data (app interactions, preferences)

2. How We Use Your Information

Companion health data marked as public is shared publicly for research, education, and community benefit. Personal account information is used only for:

• Account management and authentication
• Communication about the service
• Service improvements

3. Data Sharing and Visibility

Public data: Companion health records you mark public are visible to all users. This is the core purpose of the platform.

Private data: Your account credentials and contact information are never shared publicly.

Permanent sharing: Once data is made public it cannot be recalled or made private.

4. Permissions We Request

• Camera: to photograph companions and medical documents for your health records.
• Photos: to attach existing photos to health records.
• Face ID / biometrics: for optional secure sign-in on your device.

5. Content Moderation

Uploaded files are scanned with industry-standard automated tools (AWS Rekognition, ClamAV antivirus) and, upon approval by Microsoft, PhotoDNA CSAM hash-matching. Flagged content is reviewed by a human moderator.

6. Your Rights

• Access your personal account information
• Update or correct your account information
• Delete your account (note: previously-public data remains public)
• Choose whether to share new companion data publicly
• Export your companion health data
• Report inappropriate content

7. Data Security

• Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS)
• Passwords stored using bcrypt hashing
• Access controls and authentication on every request

8. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18.
